WALTER RICHARDSON 1882–1929

Born Oct 26th 1882 at Woodborough, Notts.

Married 26 September 1905 to Emma Vickers St Savior’s Church, Nottingham.

Children: Dorothy born 1908, Edna born 1910, William born 6 November 1911, Walter born 1914, Charles Frederick born 3 July 1919, Hilda born 17 September 1920, Eric born 1923.

Died 6th April 1929 age 48. Buried in Radcliffe  on Trent cemetery, L147 with headstone.

1891 Census

Age 8 living on Main Street, Woodborough with father William a framework knitter, mother Harriet a shopkeeper drapery and small wares, brothers Charles 11, Frederick 6 months and sisters Ada 6 and Ann Mary 4.

1901 Census

Age 18, domestic groom, lodging at Paper Mill Cottages, Lowdham,  next door to his parents house, with his brother Charles, gardener.

1911 Census

Age 28 living with wife Emma and 2 daughters Dorothy Mary, 3 and Edna, 1 on Albert Street, Radcliffe on Trent. He is employed as a domestic groom.

Pension

He was assessed initially in August 1918 (confirmed on 19th July 1920) at 100% degree of disability and awarded a pension of 40 shillings, with an additional 29 shillings 6d (£1.47) for his wife and four children. The pension was reduced to 60% on 15 September 1920 and a further reduction to 40%, was made on 14 September, giving him a pension of 16 shillings (80p) and 14 shillings 2d (71p) in respect of his wife and children. His pension continued, according to the pension record card, until 11 September 1923.
