In Wright’s 1920 directory, the Turner family was living on Water Lane. Lawrence’s father Richard was a carriage builder and joiner, Harry a motor engineer and his mother Kate, a stationer.

He was the younger brother of Lawrence, who was wounded in the war and died in Radcliffe on Trent eight years later (1923).

In 1925 Harry was living on Main Road, Radcliffe with parents Richard and Kate.

There is a record of him having travelled on the ship Columbia from Port Limon, Costa Rica to Plymouth, England via Cartagena, arriving on 7th Jan 1932. Proposed address in the UK given as Radcliffe on Trent. Occupation: engineer.

In 1934 both Harry and Clara returned to England from Venezuela.

In 1946 he travelled from Capetown to Liverpool on the Empress of Scotland, arriving 3rd March. Address: c/o S. Loach, Radcliffe-on-Trent. Occupation: fitter. Country of last permanent address given as North Rhodesia. Intended country of future residence England.

On 9th July 1950, age 51, he travelled from London to Sydney on the ship SS Chitral. Last address in the UK: The Bungalow, Ley Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse. Occupation: fitter.

On 29 August 1951 Clara with Richard and Suzanne left UK for Sydney, giving their last address as J Duckett in Burton Joyce, Harry’s sister Alice and family.
