1901 Census

Age 11 months. Living High Street, Beckingham, Nottinghamshire with father John Alfred age 29 a police constable, mother Fanny (née Smalley) age 32, who was born in Radcliffe on Trent.

1911 Census

Age ten living with his father John A.,  a Great Northern Railway Wagon Examiner, his mother Fanny and sister Louisa Annie age 8 and uncle Thomas Smalley, a nurseryman. They were living on Lincoln Grove, Radcliffe on Trent in a 5 roomed house.
