Age seven living on Back Lane, Radcliffe on Trent with father Thomas, forty-three, a butcher, mother Eliza, sister Mary, eleven, brother Robert James, nine, and sister Annie age one.
1901 Census
Age seventeen, employed as a nursery gardener. Father Thomas, a butcher ran his business from their home address in Back Lane, Radcliffe on Trent. Mother Eliza, (née Upton) and his sister Annie were living at the same address. His older sister Mary Ellen was listed on the census as being a visitor at the home of Mrs Brice, a shopkeeper living nearby. Mary Foster was a dressmaker working on her own account. His older brother Robert was living in lodgings in Nottingham.

Age 27 employed by father Thomas 63, as a butcher and living with him and his mother Eliza 61, sisters Mary Ellen 31 and Annie Louise 21, both working on their own account as blouse makers. The Foster family lived at Lamcote, Radcliffe on Trent in a house with six rooms.
