Married Rosa Holmes 4 April 1907,  at St Mary’s Church Radcliffe on Trent. Children: Sydney Walter (1908-1977), George Albert (1911-1991) and Harold (1918-2009).

Died 19th March 1963, age 82

1891 Census

Age 9 living in Cotgrave with father William 46, agricultural labourer, mother Susan 50, brothers William 22 a bootmaker, Stephen 20 also a bootmaker, Herbert 15, twin Arthur 9, John 4 and sister Mary 12.

1901 Census

Age twenty. In the army, stationed at Sheerness Garrison. He was a Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery. A form dated 22.1.16, Nottingham, states that Walter Longley, formerly of 17th Lancers and Royal Garrison Artillery, was a Class 1 National Reservist and was registered as such before 11th Aug 1914.

Age 30 living in Radcliffe on Trent with wife Rosa 29 and children Sydney Walter age 2, George Albert age 2 months and his wife’s grandmother Mary Holmes. He is employed as a rural postman.
